Java for Mac OS X and Mac OS 9

A Java runtime environment must be installed before installing jLog. Mac OS X and Mac OS 9 normally comes with one or more Java Runtime Environments pre-installed.

Frequent upgrades to the newest revision is recommended as this usually provides both visual and performance improvements as well as bug-fixes.

Please note that you must install Java with Administrator privileges.

Please note that if you install a new Java version, you may have to install the RXTX-files again (see the jLog Application Download page).

Mac OS X

Java updates for Mac OS X are downloaded and installed automatically using the Mac OS X Software Update.

Users of Tiger (Mac OS 10.4.x) should upgrade to Java 1.5 Release 5 (strongly recommended). This upgrade must be downloaded.manually but future updates will be handled by Software Update.

• Java 1.5 release 5 for  Intel

Mac OS

The final Java version for Mac OS 8.1 - 9.x is the MRJ 2.2.5 and it you need not worry about updates! You can read about it and download it here. The MRJ is based on Sun's very old JRE 1.1.8.
