Java for Mac OS X and Mac OS 9A Java runtime environment must be installed before installing jLog. Mac OS X and Mac OS 9 normally comes with one or more Java Runtime Environments pre-installed. Frequent upgrades to the newest revision is recommended as this usually provides both visual and performance improvements as well as bug-fixes. Please note that you must install Java with Administrator privileges. Please note that if you install a new Java version, you may have to install the RXTX-files again (see the jLog Application Download page).
Mac OS XJava updates for Mac OS X are downloaded and installed automatically using the Mac OS X Software Update. Users of Tiger (Mac OS 10.4.x) should upgrade to Java 1.5 Release 5 (strongly recommended). This upgrade must be downloaded.manually but future updates will be handled by Software Update. jLog can switch between different Java versions as described here.
Mac OSThe final Java version for Mac OS 8.1 - 9.x is the MRJ 2.2.5 and it you need not worry about updates! You can read about it and download it here. The MRJ is based on Sun's very old JRE 1.1.8.
